Our materials
We supply vests that are designed to combine protection and comfort.
Spectra® Gold Flex® is
a unidirectional laminate made of 4 layers of Aramid polyamide fibre
strips, cross piled and sandwiched in a thermoplastic
film. It results in ultra-thin vests that are very light and comfortable.
It is about 25% lighter than Kevlar® or Zylon® vests
but offers high trauma protection thanks to the addition of the 3D
Comfort
Shieldtm technology. The tight weave of this material helps protect
you from cuts and slashes and to a degree from stabs. This material
also
offers flame and heat protection and is able to withstand temperatures
of up to 500 degrees C.
Dyneema® UD is a unidirectional laminate
made of 2 layers of extended chain Polyethylene fibre strips cross
piled and sandwiched in a thermoplastic
film. It is the worlds strongest and most exclusive fibre designed
for ballistic protection. Very thin and easy to wear with high trauma
protection.
It is one of the lightest ballistic materials available - it will even
float on water! It offers good protection from cuts and slashes and
will also help to protect against stabs. It will withstand temperatures
of
150 degrees C and maintains its protective properties down to -150
degrees C. Dyneema is also the first material to be FAA certified for
use in
bullet proof cockpit doors on airliners due to its light weight and
good ballistic properties.
SPV-Pro (tm) is a laminated Arramid polymide fibre armour that gives typically thinner armour panels than more traditional Aramid/Kevlar armours. We use it in our Combo and Tank Top vests to meet the strict UK ballistic and stab test requirements. Our SPV-Pro armour is typically thinner and lighter than general purpose Police issue vests and is used by the Police in covert/plain clothes roles.
